Hanumans of Keshabpur to be protected


Hanuman species of Keshabpur upazila underJessore district will be protected through planting trees on the khas land.

Minister-in-charge of the district and Minister for Information Tariqul Islam, and Minister for Environment and Forest Shahjahan Siraj yesterday announced this while addressing a seminar here.

The seminar on 'Protect the Wild Animals, Save the Environment' was organised by Poverty Elimination Assistance Centre for Everywhere.

Chaired by President of the organisation Saidur Rahman Syed, the function was addressed, among others, by Forest Conservator Abdur Rashid and Secretary General of the organisation Ifma Hossain.

Professor of the Zoology Department of Dhaka University Zaker Hossain presented a keynote paper at the seminar.

The information minister said the hanuman of Keshabpur is a national heritage.

He urged the local people to help protect the hanumans.

The environment minister said a biodiversity strategy and an action plan have been taken to protect wild animals and biodiversity across the country.

The wild animals, including hanumans of Keshabpur, will be protected under this plan, the minister added.
