Children lay siege to DC's office for warm clothes


A group of children from poor families laid a siege to the office of the deputy commissioner here yesterday demanding distribution of warm clothes as cold wave has been sweeping over the district for the last eight days.

The government has allocated Tk one lakh and 1,500 blankets for distribution among the poor, but no blankets has been given away.

About 35 children aged between five and 10 years from Rajapur village under Sadar upazila also paraded through the streets of the town carrying placards and chanting slogans.

The placards read "We want warm clothes for winter" and "We do have the right to live".
