Mohammedan Sporting Club yesterday de-manded full three points from their abandoned Western Union Premier Division Football League match against Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra."We submitted a formal letter to the league committee demanding full points as well as bringing foreign referees to smoothly run the league. We are hopeful that the authorities will consider our demand sympathetically," said the club's general secretary Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan at a press briefing in the afternoon. Mohammedan is facing the prospect of losing four points for refusing to play the remaining six minutes of their crucial match against Muktijoddha at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday. The game was locked at 1-1 when it suffered a sorry death amidst violent reactions from the players and officials of the popular Motijheel-based side after a long throw from Muktijoddha's Belal entered the net hitting the chest of defender Shuvro. "Shuvro was standing inside the goalline when it struck him and we want to show you the video footage of that incident," said Lukman in defence of his side's decision of what he claimed a controversial ruling by referee Ram Krishna Ghosh. But Lokman was unable to show the video footage to reporters until the briefing was over. Lokman however said that his club was against any boycott threat but they also wanted a respectable decision from the league committee, which is likely to give a ruling on the trouble-torn match today following a prescription of the disciplinary committee. "We will react only after the outcome of the league committee meeting. But we always love to be on the field," said the black and whites' sports secretary Salam Murshedi. Murshedi, a prolific marksman of the 80's, was smart enough to concede that his decision to enter the field during the match was illegal but he had done it only to avert a massive violence. "We are very much aware that referee is the supreme authority on the field and his decision is final. But if you look at recent incidents you will find that poor referring was mainly responsible for the sad end of a match," said Murshedi while referring to the ill-fated Muktijo-ddha-Abahani match. But when asked how wise was it for Mohammedan to refuse to play on, which not only caused a major setback to their aspirations to defend the title but also brought the game into disrepute in front of the visiting AFC and FIFA delegation, Murshedi blamed the media of over reacting. Mohammedan captain Jewel Rana also refuted the allegation that he rushed to sideline to assault assistant referee. "I just appealed to him to cancel the goal." Manager Amirul Isam Babu also countered the allegation that he became incensed on Thursday night. Vice-president Aminul Haq Moni and assistant general secretary Alamgir Iqbal also spoke on the occasion.
