UK minister for int'l dev arrives today


British Minister for International Development Gareth Thomas, MP, arrives in the capital today on a two-day visit.

During the visit, he will sign a new funding for the Second Primary Education Development Programme and funding for a Chars Livelihoods Programme.

The funding for the Second Primary Education Development Programme will provide free education for over 17 million (1.7 crore) children a year.

The UK minister will meet Finance and Planning Minister M Saifur Rahman and Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan. He will also visit a number of poverty reduction programmes in different parts of the country, said a British High Commission press release.
