Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 5th National Cricket League
Dhaka, Sylhet take control


League leaders Dhaka and Sylhet took handsome first-innings' leads on the third day of their Ispahani Mirzapore Tea Fifth National Cricket League matches.

A brilliant century by Anisul Hakim also enabled Chittagong, who scored 358, to claim a valuable 73-run lead against holders Khulna.

Mehrab Hossain ended on 169 and wicketkeeper Sajjad Kadir hammered 67 runs as Dhaka amassed 374 in reply to Rajshahi's 249.

Sylhet earned a 158-run first innings' lead after bundling out Barisal for 217. However in the second innings they collapsed to 99-5.

When Rajshahi come out to bat on the final day they will require another 36 runs to wipe out the deficit at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.

They finished day three on 89-3 in their second innings.

Resuming on 254-5, the Dhaka grabbed a 125-run first-innings' lead after Mehrab took his overnight score of 122 to 169.

He hammered 13 fours and two sixes.

Number seven Sajjad Kadir made 67 off 172 balls with seven fours.

Rajshahi left-arm spinner Saifullah Khan took five for 113 in 39 overs.

Spinner Elias Sunny captured all three Rajshahi second-innings' wickets giving away 19 runs.
