A team lose their way

The touring Bangladesh A suffered a dramatic middle-order collapse on day one of their four-day Patron's Trophy match against Khan Research Laboratory (KRL) at the UBL ground in Karachi yesterday.

The visitors, playing their last match in the Pakistani first-class competition, were bowled out for 198 despite a fighting unbeaten half-century from Nasiruddin Farooq and two forty-plus contributions by opener Moniruzzaman (45) and Mazharul Haq (42).

19-year-old Nasiruddin scored 64 off 221 balls that included five boundaries. But the rest of second-string national side failed to carry on the good work of the top-order when they lost their last six wickets for 45 runs after Mazhar was dismissed with the score reading 158.

The home side was 11 for no loss at stumps.

Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal was the most successful KRL bowler with five wickets for 50 runs in 30 overs.
