Students asked to vacate hall
Staff Correspondent
All students of Haji Mohsin Hall of Govt BL College in Khulna have been asked to vacate their rooms immediately following the bomb blast on the roof of the hall on Sunday night injuring two young men seriously. A decision to this effect was taken unanimously at a meeting of the staff council yesterday to ease the prevailing tension on the campus. "I want full assurances from leaders of all student organisations about fair politics," said the principal of the college, adding that otherwise, stern action will be taken to stop such undesirable incidents on the campus. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, house-super of the hall, yesterday filed a FIR with Daulatpur Police Station in this connection. One of the injured has been identified as Manju, 30, son of one Altaf Hossain of Durjanimahal under Rupsha thana. He is a non-student and a professional bomb-maker, sources said. The other injured Mamun, 27, son of Ibrahim Sardar of Rajapur village, is a student of Bangabandhu College of Rupsha upazila. Both of them are undergoing treatment in the prison cell of Khulna Medical College Hospital. They were arrested by the joint forces soon after the incident. The powerful bomb went off with a big bang when it was being manufactured on the roof of the hall controlled by Islami Chhatra Shibir, said a student on condition of anonymity. BL College units of JCD and BCL have demanded an impartial probe into the bomb blast. Police said vigorous investigation is going on to arrest others who were present when the bomb went off.
