JS session Now to run till Mar 30

The current session of the Jatiya Sangsad scheduled to be prorogued yesterday will continue till March 30 after an 11-day break from today.A Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting chaired by Speaker Jamir Uddin Sircar at Sangsad Bhaban decided to extend the session yesterday afternoon. The decision came on the heels of a very little amount of discussion so far taken place in the House on a thanksgiving motion on the new-year speech of President Iajuddin Ahmad. Although an earlier meeting of the BAC decided to hold the Discussion for 30 hours and conclude the first session of the year yesterday, lawmakers could spend less than one-third of the stipulated time to that end. As the BAC has decided to keep the session adjourned from March 5 to 15 and prorogue it on March 30, there is very little likelihood of holding any more session before the next budget session. However, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Abdul Hamid at a press briefing at his office in the Sangsad Bhaban termed the decision unprecedented and said there is no reason to adjourn the House till March 16.
