2 women 'take life' in city

Two women allegedly committed suicide at Sutrapur in the capital yesterday.

Doctors declared 30-year-old Doly Begum, wife of Munna, dead when three neighbours including Rahima and Nazrul Islam Sagar brought her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 3:15pm.

Rahima and another unidentified neighbour left the body at the DMCH to inform the victim's relatives of the incident while police held Sagar for quizzing.

Sagar told police that they found the victim hanging from the ceiling of her 37, Narinda residence.

However, her clothes were torn in several places indicating scuffling, morgue sources said.

In the other incident, Shetu took her life at their Gendaria Fire Service Road residence in the afternoon.

Abdus Samad, the victim's uncle, brought her to the DMCH at 5:15pm.

The 30-year-old victim hanged herself from the ceiling leaving a suicide note.

However, Sutrapur police failed to provide details about the incidents till the filing of this report at 8:35 last night.
