9 shops gutted in city

Fire gutted nine shops at Nandipara bazar under Sabujbagh thana in the city in the early hours of yesterday. Originating from an electric short-circuit at around 4:00am, the fire soon engulfed nine shops damaging properties worth about Tk 3 lakh. Four fire fighting units from Khilgaon and Ramna rushed to the spot and doused the fire after struggling for about two hours.
