Locals told this correspondent that Amjad killed his wife on suspicion of extra-marital affair with one of his friends. On the fateful night Amjad and Anowara locked in a quarrel. At one stage Amjad became furious and slaughtered his wife and fled away from the house.

However, people caught him from a house at Dhanjoy village in Gabtoli upazila on Sunday morning and handed over to police after a good beating.

Meanwhile, police recovered Anowara's body on Sunday noon and sent to Bogra Mohammad Ali Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with Gabtoli thana.
