BDR-BSF confce in Kolkata begins today


A four-day border conference between Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) begins in Kolkata, capital of the Indian state of West Bengal, today, aiming to resolve various unresolved issues.

The issues include firing on unarmed civilians by the BSF and Indian 'miscreants,' push in of Indian citizens, intrusion of Indians into Bangladesh territory, tree and tea plantations on no man's land and smuggling.

Deputy Director General of the BDR Brig Gen Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil will lead a nine-member Bangladesh delegation, while Inspector General of the BSF (South and North Bengal frontier) lead his 11-member team.

The Bangladesh delegation left for Kolkata yesterday.
