Driver found dead in city

Body of a private car driver, who was earlier on March 7 allegedly abducted along with the car by some carjackers, was recovered from a canal at Bachila in Mohammadpur early yesterday.Mohammadpur police recovered the body of Mizanur Rahman Zafar, 28, with his hands and legs tied and his neck twined with ropes at about 12:30 am. The body also bore a cut in the abdomen. Four miscreants beat the driver, took away him and the white Toyota Corolla car (Dhaka Metro-ga-12-9773) at about 5:45pm on March 7 from Kaderabad Housing Limited at Katasur in Mohammadpur, while the car-owner, Harunur Rashid, was overseeing the work of his under-construction building. "Coming downstairs, I found a gathering and came to know that the criminals had gone taking my driver and the car by force." Harunur Rashid told newsmen at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where Zafar's body was taken for autopsy. Harunur Rashid, a chemical trader of old part of the city, filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station on March 7. Son of one Manu Mridha, Zafar hailed from Hossain Market at Dattapara in Tongi. Two more decomposed bodies, unidentified, were recovered from Kafrul and Uttara on Sunday night. Kafrul police recovered the body of a 30-year old man, who was wearing black trousers and black shirt, from a ditch at section No 14 at about 7:00pm. On the same night at about 8:30pm, Uttara police recovered the body of a 40- year old man from the water near the sluice gate at Uttara. He was wearing a lungi. Police could not ascertain whether those bore marks of injuries. They however suspect both were killed at least seven to eight days ago.
