More judges to be recruited soon for quick case disposal: CJ

Chief Justice Syed JR Mudassir Husain said a number of judges will be appointed soon to end the slow disposal of cases.

The Chief Justice, while addressing the members of Sylhet District Bar Association yesterday at the Hall of the bar, also stressed the separation of judiciary from the executive to ensure the independence of the former.

Syed Mudassir Husain urged the lawyers to come forward to ensure justice, saying, along with the judges, the lawyers also have a very important role to play in prompt disposal of cases.

The Registrar of the Supreme Court Quamrul Islam Siddiqui, and Additional Registrar Farid Ahmed Shibli accompanied the chief justice.

Among others, the District and Sessions Judge of Sylhet Mohammad Ismail Miah and General Secretary of the Sylhet Bar EU Shahidul Islam addressed the meeting, which was chaired by the President of the Bar Abdul Hai Khan.

The president and general secretary of the bar in their speeches demanded construction of new court building under the Judicial Capacity Building project at the earliest. They said the accommodation problem in the Sylhet courthouse turned acute due to delaying of the authorities concerned.

The chief justice, who is also the chairman of the Judicial Capacity Building project, said the problem would be resolved soon.
