Graft case filed against Alamgir, 6 others


The Bureau of Anti Corruption (Bac) yesterday pressed charges against former state minister for planning Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and six others in a graft case.

The investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheet against to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka.

The six others are Air Commo-dore M Manzur Alam, former chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab), Zakiruddin Ahmad, member (administration) of Caab, Group Captain M Iqbal Hussain, member (planning) of Caab, Mohammad Abdus Salam, director (administration) of Caab, Group Captain Mushir-al-Muluk and former Awami league lawmaker MA Sattar.

The case, filed with the Airport Police Station, stated that Alamgir in connivance with others issued work order to the Mutual Trading Company, highest bidder among the three, for arranging a Flight Celebration of the Caab in 1997 that incurred the government Tk 44.5 lakh in losses.

Bac official Mohammad Zahirul Huda filed the case on April 26, 2003.
