Locals held alleged outlaws Ajay Mazumder, 30, and Bolai Mohant, 29, at Kharia village where they went to extort money, police said.

The frenzied crowd beat up and then slaughtered them, police added.

Police sent the bodies for autopsy.

The officer-in-charge of Dumuria camp of joint forces visited the spot and sought villagers' cooperation in arresting underground operatives of the area.

With yesterday's incident, enraged mob lynched seven members of different outlawed organisations in the district in last 18 months. Three were killed in Chitalmari on February 9 while two others in Sadar upazila on March 6, sources said.
