Police said, a gang led by notorious criminal Mukti abducted Saidur Rahman Sayeed, son of Fajibar Rahman of Ailchara village in the Sadar upazila when he was going to school. He was a student at class five at Ailchara Government Primary School.

The abductors demanded payment of Tk five lakh ransom within seven days and threatened to kill the boy for non-compliance.

A case was filled with the Sadar thana, but police failed to rescue the boy.

The body was found floating in a pond at Mohordia village in the Sadar thana.
