Dhaka Club observes the Independence Day

Unlike the traditional British Club, we also hold programmes to celebrate our important national days such as Independence Day, Victory Day and Pohela Boishakh (the first day of the Bangla year)', said Ataur Rahman, the Convenor of the culture sub-committee of the Dhaka Club.

Cultural activist, Ramendu Majumdar, hosted a dance drama on March 26, to observe the Independence Day. The Dhaka Club arranged the programme. Ramendu said,' We fought unitedly against our enemy and were victorious. However, the Bangladesh that we dreamt of, is yet to be achieved. However, if we can keep the spirit of the Independence alive within us, we will be able to achieve the goal.'

After his speech, the Bangladesh Ballet Troupe staged the dance drama titled The Battle of Bangladesh. Amanul Haque, the writer, and choreographer of the dance drama, portrayed the aspects of the war such as genocide, atrocities perpetrated by the Pakistani Army on the common people and the emergence of Bangladesh.
