Close watch on vessels at Ctg Port

Government intelligence agencies are looking into activities of some cargo vessels that called at the Chittagong Port in last few days to find possible links to the largest-ever arms cache seized on Friday.

"We're checking relevant details on the cargoes and activities of some ships since their arrival," said a senior official of customs intelligence, requesting anonymity.

Port sources said 11 cargo vessels berthed at the port jetties since April 1.

Investigation will focus on three vessels that arrived at the outer anchorage of the port on Thursday night, another official said.

Of the three vessels, MV Orient Freedom and MV QC Honour, owned by BNP lawmaker Salauddin Qader Chowdhury, arrived from the Port Kelang of Malaysia with cargoes. The other vessel -- MV Ocean Moray -- arrived from Singapore.
