In a statement, Harris Chowdhury, also political secretary to the prime minister, said the remarks show that "the Awami League would never come out of its tradition of character assassination of its political opponents by spreading falsehood."

He said people know the Awami League has been spreading falsehood and propaganda against Tarique Rahman and Hawa Bhaban, but it is libelous to term Tarique as a man with dangerous mentality.

Harris said people know that Tarique is powerful to that extend, which the constitution of the country, the BNP and existing laws conferred on him.
