The victims are Lal Miah, 35, his daughter Nazma Khatun, 14, of Fuluarchar village, China Begum, 35, wife of Raham Ali, of Dakshin Tapur Char village, and Sober Ali, 39, of Ghughumari village.

Locals said the nor'wester, a tropical seasonal storm, cut a swathe through a vast area of Bondober Union Parishad under Roumari upazila in Kurigram, ravaging Boro rice in 100 acres of land and several thatched houses.

Sources in Rangpur Met Office said the sky in the northern region remains cloudy for the last three days and the hailstorm is lashing the area frequently.

Met office sources and police said another nor'wester hit a vast area under Bera upazila of Pabna at about 5:00pm the same day, causing damages to crops and some thatched houses.
