The deceased were identified as Sampod,2, and his sister Suma,4. Both of them are children of Samsuzzoha, an assistant teacher of Udoypur Non-government Primary School at Kalai.

Police and family members said Suma and Sampod were playing on a bank of a pond beside their house. At one stage of playing they fell down the pond. Locals rescued them in an unconscious state and shifted to Bogra Mohammad Ali Hospital where attending doctors declared them dead.
