Rain may ease heat and dust tomorrow

The rising temperature in the capital and the northwest and southwest may come down slightly by tomorrow, as there are chances of rain today in some parts of the country including Dhaka.

"The rising temperature during summer is not unusual, but the temperature is likely to go down by 2-3 degrees Celsius if it rains," said Asadur Rahman, deputy forecast officer of the meteorological office in Dhaka.

The met office also said a low over the eastern Indian state of Bihar and adjacent West Bengal is responsible for the rising temperature in Bangladesh.

The maximum temperature was recorded yesterday in Chuadanga at 38.7 degrees Celsius and it was 35 degrees Celsius in Dhaka. Last week, temperature rose to 3- 5 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country.

The meteorological office also said some raining at the beginning of the month eased the drought-like situation in some parts of the country.

Clouds have already gathered over the sky in Kishoreganj, Sunamganj, Sylhet and Srimongol, which may cause rainfall in the areas, the forecast officer added.

The meteorological office also said there is no chance of significant rain in the current week, which means the heat would continue to dominate the weather.

According to the state-run news agency BSS, absence of rain worsened the dry weather since the beginning of the year, hitting hard the irrigation for boro cultivation. Nor'westers again damaged crops in some parts of the country.
