Tea stall owner shot as extortionists trade fire

A tea stall owner at Sayadabad Bus Terminal in the city was hit by bullet in a shootout between the two groups of toll collectors yesterday.The victim Kalu Mian, 35, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from where he was shifted to Orthopaedic Hospital with a bullet wound in his right thigh. A man, who took Kalu Mian to the DMCH, said two armed outfits were locked in a fighting to establish their supremacy and exchanged seven to eight rounds of gunshots at around 3:00pm. Demra police could not give any details when contacted at 7:30pm.
