Tea stall owner shot as extortionists trade fire


A tea stall owner at Sayadabad Bus Terminal in the city was hit by bullet in a shootout between the two groups of toll collectors yesterday.

The victim Kalu Mian, 35, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) from where he was shifted to Orthopaedic Hospital with a bullet wound in his right thigh.

A man, who took Kalu Mian to the DMCH, said two armed outfits were locked in a fighting to establish their supremacy and exchanged seven to eight rounds of gunshots at around 3:00pm.

Demra police could not give any details when contacted at 7:30pm.
