Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil urged the BNP-Jamaat government to step down or to face a "mass movement"."The trump card will be thrown and final game played in the last week of the month", he told a council of Chuadanga district AL, held at an auditorium in the town on Friday. "The anti-people Khaleda-Nizami government will not be able to sustain the final game ". Jalil alleged that the BNP-Jamaat government has made people's life Miserable and that people would spontaneously join the "mass movement" to be launched by his party. It can not control price hike of essentials and has become "champion in corruption". Law and order has deteriorated because ruling BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists are sheltering criminals, he alleged. "Innocent people including businessmen, intellectuals and journalists are being attacked but the attackers are not arrested because they are ruling coalition cadres. "On the other hand, AL activists and leaders are being falsely implicated in those incidents as per directives from a Bhaban". Jalil claimed that the Prime Minister's son is establishing hotels abroad. These should be investigated. He urged the people to rally round AL to oust the "corrupt and failed government" by the deadline. He also urged party men to launch a vigorous movement against the government to dislodge it by the deadline. Abdul Lajil earlier gave the government a April 30 deadline to quit power. Chaired by outgoing president of Chuadanga district AL Yusuf Ali, the council was addressed by, among others, the party's central Organising Secretary Abdul Mannan, Working Committee member Mirza Sultan Raza, Abdul Hye MP (Jhenidah-1), SM Kamal and Abdul MAzid. The council made former district AL general secretary Solaiman Haq Joardar and Azadul Islam Azad president and secretary respectively of the new district committee. Names of other office bearers would be announced later, party sources said.
