JCD rivals' clash leaves 10 injured in Barisal

At least 10 persons were injured, six of them critically, in a clash between two rival groups of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) here yesterday.The clash ensued at about 11 am near Charkowa High School in Barisal Sadar upazila when JCD leader Nasir Bhuiya along with his supporters swooped on the union JCD president Gani Sardar and his supporters. Nasir is the younger brother of union BNP president and Union Parishad (UP) chairman Shajahan Bhuiya. Ten supporters of Gani sustained injuries. According to locals, the clash is a sequel to discord over sharing of money received for gathering people for the Prime Minister's meeting here on April 15. There was also enmity between Shajahan and Gani since the last UP election. Six cirtically injured were admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (BSMCH). They are Gani Sarder,30, Sohag Sarder,25, Mizanur Rahman,30, Rezaul Karim,22, Sayed Haque,22, and Arif, 18. Four others were released after first aid. Police visited the spot. But no case was lodged till writing of this report yesterday afternoon.
