Barisal Mayor lays war memorial foundation anew

After publication of the news of removal of the Liberation War foundation stone from the court area, Barisal City Corporation Mayor Majibur Rahman Sarwar on Friday laid another foundation at a little distance from its original site. The foundation stone laid by people in 1997 was removed on the night of April 15 allegedly by workers engaged by the city corporation for expansion of a road for movement of the Prime Minister's convoy. The Prime Minister on Thursday laid the foundation of a court complex in the city. The new foundation is not similar to the one removed. The Mayor claimed that the old foundation was removed for widening the road, not dismantled.
