BAAF goes to polls in Jan


The councillors of Bangladesh Amateur Athletics Federation (BAAF) decided yesterday to hold fresh elections in January for a new executive committee.

Out of 68 councillors, 31 were present in the meeting, which also unanimously voted to remove the 'amateur' tag from its name.

The 31-member federation will work till January with 26 members. Five of its members including general secretary Ibrahim Chenghis have been absent for two years and vice-president Shah Alam is the acting secretary.

It was learned that post of the president, which is a nominated position, will be contested in the elections.
