President rejects Ershad Sikder's mercy petition

President Iajuddin Ahmed yesterday turned down the mercy petition of notorious criminal Ershad Sikder, who was sentenced to death by a court in his home district Khulna for killing Mohammad Khalid Hossain. Khulna Jail authorities will execute the death penalty in 21 days after the receipt of the presidential refusal. The High Court and Supreme Court upheld the Khulna court verdict.
