Businessman stabbed

A gang of criminals stabbed a businessman in the city's Shyampur area yesterday for his refusal to give them industrial byproducts of his metal factory.Zahangir, 35, was going to his GM Metal Re-rolling Mills at Alibahar in Shyampur when six members of local 'Sukkur Group', including Sukkur, Murad and Hanif, waylaid him at around 11:00am. They picked up an altercation with him before stabbing him in his back, head and abdomen with sharp weapons. His right wrist was almost severed. "They attacked me because I refused Sukkur when he demanded the byproducts worth about 5 lakh nearly a week ago," said Zahangir who is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
