HSBC donations for leukaemia patients
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited in Bangladesh donated Tk 200,000 to the Children Leukaemia Assistance and Support Services (CLASS) to help cancer stricken children in Bangladesh.Rashed H Khandhkar, manager, Network Services Centre of HSBC in Bangladesh, handed over the cheque to Enayet Hossain, secretary general of CLASS, on Monday in Chittagong. Among others, David Hall, head of Group Public Affairs, HSBC Asia Pacific, Chowdhury B Mahmud, head of Child Health Department, and Toufiqul Alam, director of Chittagong Medical College, were present. HSBC's donation will enable CLASS to render proper medical treatment to the leukaemia affected children of the children's ward of the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), the only one of its kind in the country. The funds were raised from the HSBC Charity Golf Tournament held in December 2003.
