DU teachers' statement

I have read with keen interest a news report " The government has lost all moral rights to stay in power, states 251 DU teachers" published in your daily of 25 April. Frankly, I have been disappointed with the statement. Firstly because I believe the statement is tantamount to full-scale involvement of the university teachers in active politics of the country. I am sick and tired of politics all round. Politics at home, politics at work places, politics in mosques, politics even at family levels. Sadly, though, some "intellectuals" of our country would vehemently defend it as a part and parcel of the "process of democracy and democratic rights". On the other hand, I would like to ask if they (the university teachers) themselves have the moral right to hold on to their jobs since they too have failed to deliver and stand by their commitments of running the university and imparting education to students. Do they feel it is OK for them to collect their salaries and enjoy other perks by working half the time or even less?

The BNP today is an institution of failures. But let us not forget that you too have failed us badly.
