Double standards

Millions of Americans settle into the couch with bowls of popcorn and diet cola in the complete safety of their living room, enjoying the colour images of American troops fighting the just war, then comes the CBS Breaking News. Pictures of notorious Abu Gharib prison show prisoners being humiliated, forced to pose in a degrading position with each other naked. Some were beaten to death, then carted away with a faked intravenous infusion in the arm.The war against terrorism is a war to preserve freedom, we were told. When Saddam did it, it was evil when Americans do it, it is the unintended consequences of a just cause. The hypocrisy is sickening. The ugly side of the Americans has been completely unmasked by the imperialistic attitude that colour US foreign policy in the guise of freedom. If irony is not dead, surely it is on life support. The killers that run the American government now must know that they can no longer win the war in Iraq because Americans do not belong there. Vandals cannot rebuild the house they are ravaging.
