Zia's lead on


Grand Master Ziaur Rahman kept his top slot intact with 7.5 points in the seventh United Insurance and United Leasing International Masters chess tournament after winning the seventh and eighth round boards at the National Sports Council (NSC) conference room yesterday.

Zia defeated FIDE Master Sheikh Nasir Ahmed in the seventh round and Raktim Banerjee in the next.

International Master Abdullah Al Rakib followed the leader with one point deficit after beating Pakistani International Master Mahmud Lodhi. Shuvrajit Shaha was in the third place with 5.5 points.
