New principal prevented from joining Eden College

Newly appointed principal of Eden College could not join her new office yesterday.

Prof. Feroza Begum, principal of Bangla College, who has been transferred to Eden College as its principal, could not join her new college as the students kept her under lock and key at the office at Bangla College.

The students do not want the principal to leave the college, said an official over telephone yesterday.

Prof. Tahmina Hossain, who was the vice-principal of Eden College, was made head of the Bangla department at Badrunnesa College. She also could not join her new college as the Eden College JCD leaders kept her confined to the office room of the college.

The JCD leaders also did not welcome the new vice-principal who came from Dhaka Music College. Though the new vice-principal stayed at the principal's office at Eden College more then three hours yesterday, she could not take over.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dilara Hafiz, who was the principal of Eden College, took over as the chairman of National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) yesterday.

The education ministry recently transferred 34 teachers of different colleges in the city. Among them, six teachers, including principal and vice-principal, are from the Eden College.
