Babul arrested soon after out on bail

Police arrested business magnate Nurul Islam Babul from the gate of Dhaka Central Jail soon after he was released on bail.

The High Court on Sunday granted him bail on medical grounds for four weeks in an attempted rape case. A housewife of Badda filed the case on March 20, the day he was arrested on charge of killing a dredger worker.

Over 100 policemen in uniform and plainclothes arrested and took him to Cantonment Police Station. However, police did not disclose to his family members or lawyers why he was arrested. Badda and Cantonment police also could not give a reason.

Babul, chairman of Jamuna Group and owner of daily Jugantor, had earlier submitted medical prescription for his treatment for cardiac complications.
