The convict is Neherul Islam, 33, son of Manjil Seikh of Ramkrishnapur in Bheramara upazila.

According to court, a gang led by Neherul stormed into the house of Kartik Kumar Mondol at Kuthibazaar Mathpara village and looted his belongings on October 20, 2000. At one stage Kartik's son Pradip Kumar Mondol resisted the armed looters. Being resisted the criminals gunned down him killing him on the spot.

Judge Tapos kumar Dey of here who pronounced the verdict also fined the accused 5,000 taka, in default, to suffer one year more RI.
