Commercial Bank launches e-banking


Bangladesh enters the era of internet banking as Commercial Bank of Ceylon Ltd, Bangladesh yesterday formally launched 'Combank Online' offering online cash management services to their personal and corporate clients.

The service enables the customers to access, retrieve and carry out banking transactions to their accounts 24 hours a day from the bank's website -- www.combankbd.com.

The other facilities offered in the service are balance inquiry, transfer of funds between customers' own accounts, support requests for cheque books, produce bank statements, status of deposited cheques, utility bill payment and account history of five years.

The Combank Online also looks forward to introduce digital signature service for the online settlement of contracts by the signatories. The facility employs the most modern and comprehensive internet security control, bank officials said.

The charge of online banking is Tk 1,000 for personal and Tk 2,000 for corporate banking.

S Renganathan, country manager of the bank, delivered welcome speech at the launch of the service at Sonargaon Hotel. Senior Manager-IT Iajzul Haque and Chief Operating Officer BAHS Preena made separate presentations on Combank Online.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon Ltd. is the second largest commercial bank in Sri Lanka having 126 branches all over the country with 153 automated teller machines serving over 4,000 customers. The bank acquired the Bangladesh operations of Credit Agricole Indosuez Bank seven months ago.
