A four-day 'abduction drama' ended yesterday after the abducted person surrendered to Raozan police and told them that he was not kidnapped.Md Harun, a farmer of Chikdair village under Raozan upazila, had been missing since he came to Chittagong city for treatment on Saturday. On the same day, he informed his family over phone that he was kidnapped from Jamal Khan area and the abductors demanded Tk 3 lakh for his release. Police arrested two cousins of Harun as suspects after his wife Shilu Akter filed a case with Raozan police on Monday. Harun surrendered at the Raozan police station at around 12.45am yesterday. He told newsmen at the Police Super's Office that he cooked up the abduction story to get his cousins arrested because they harassed him in many ways and tried to deprive him of his property. Harun said he had been staying at one of his friend's house at Halishahar for four days. When he came to know that his cousins, Farid and Touhid, were arrested, he went to Raozan police station to identify and make a complaint against them, he said. Harun alleged that his cousins were now trying to drive out from his land to grab it. Police said they would verify the statement of Harun take measures accordingly.
