Workers call hartal on July 11

Shilpa Sramik Karmachari Rokkha Samonnaya Parishad (SSKRSP), an organisation of workers, will observe dawn to dusk countrywide hartal on July 11 demanding reopening of mills and factories closed down by the government and cancellation of privatisation policy.It was decided at a meeting of the SSKRSP at the National Press Club with its president Abul Bashar in the chair. The meeting also decided that the SSKRSP would observe 24-hour strike in the mills and factories across the country on July 11 in support of its demands. The SSKRSP leaders urged the government to announce minimum wage and 40 percent dearness allowance for the factory workers. They also demanded allocation in the proposed budget of Fiscal Year 2004-2005 for reopening of the closed mills and factories. The SSKRSP also urged the progressive political parties to support July 11 hartal.
