Chit-Chat with Suvro Dev
A popular name in our music industry


At the age of three, Suvro Dev played the tabla on stage. Ten years later, he received the President award for music, in BTV in the Nutun Kuri contests.

Suvro Dev is undoubtedly a popular name in the Bangladeshi music industry. Ever since his first audio release in the year 1984, titled Hamilyn er shei Bashiwala, he has captured the hearts of many in and around the country. To date he has produced and worked in more than 30 albums.

In 1991, Suvro Dev made the first ever music video of his hit number Shesh chity, which was shot in Sweden. His creativity reached greater heights when in 1997 ATN Hindi telecast the Suvro Dev Show, where a number of his music videos were shown.

'I composed and performed at the Mini World Cup theme song Cricket Cricket, which was held in Dhaka. The other theme song, Shoth manush kokhono acid chorena, composed for the acid victims, was shown on BBC Television on July 22, 2000,' said Suvro.

Recently, Dev performed with Runa Laila in an open air concert in Dubai, followed by a well-appreciated concert in the United States on the occasion of the official launching of ATN channel.

Dev is coming out with yet another one of his musical albums titled Lolita, where many of his compositions have been influenced by the ancient Sylheti music dating back to hundreds of years. 'I collected these age-old lyrics from Bidit Lal Das, a renowned singer from Sylhet, and remixed it into fusion music, combining Mexican, Indian and Arabic tunes. The album will be released next Eid,' added Suvro.
