Abducted girl Rescued in Munshiganj


A seven-year-old girl, abducted from city's Chaktai area on Tuesday, was rescued at Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district yesterday.

Later, police brought back the girl to Chittagong .

Police said the girl Jasmine Akhtar, a class two student of an NGO-run school at Rajakhali in Chaktai and daughter of a small trader Nurul Islam, went into missing while going to on Tuesday morning.

Her father lodged a general diary with the Bakalia thana the same day.

Mohiuddin, an alleged criminal of Rajakhali area, telephoned Jasmine's father from Gazaria on Wednesday and demanded Tk 2 lakh for her release.

Victim's father filed an abduction case against Mohiuddin and urged police to rescue Jasmine .

Bakalia police raid Mohiuddin's home at village Baliakandi under Gazaria upazila on Wednesday afternoon and rescued Jasmine.

Police returned to Bakalia along with the girl at around 4.30pm.

Jasmine told journalists that Mohiuddin had allured her with the promise of giving her new clothes and took her to Gazaria by bus.
