BNP harbouring criminals: Saber

Awami League leader Saber Hossain Chowdhury yesterday expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in crimes and blamed the ruling BNP for harbouring criminals.

The law and order situation has worsened to such an extent that it seems there is no government in the country, said Saber, organising secretary of the party, in a statement.

He alleged that a younger brother of a minister and other BNP leaders pressured police to free the abductors who kidnapped a businessman after they arrested three abductors and rescued the businessman on June 23.

The BNP leaders also forced the police not to file any case against the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) cadres and drove out the officials of public relations department of police when they went to the thana to take snaps of the criminals, Saber added.
