3 killed in city road accidents


Three people were killed in three separate road accidents in the capital yesterday.

An unidentified man, 35, clad in black trouser and brown T-shirt, died when a speeding truck hit him while he was crossing the road in front of the prime minister's office in the early hours.

Police could neither arrest the driver nor seize the vehicle.

In another incident, Emarul Islam, 27, a CNG-run three-wheeler driver, lost control and crashed into a road island at Nodda in Gulshan at 10:00am.

Critically injured Islam was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he died at 3:00pm.

A rickshawpuller, aged around 40, died when a truck ran over him at Azampur in Uttara at 3:00pm.

Police sent the body, clad in white lungi and gray shirt, to DMC morgue for autopsy. They could not seize the truck.
