Board websites fail result seekers

Thousands of anxious guardians failed to access the website of the education boards where results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations were posted yesterday as over six lakh people logged on to the site at one time.

The education boards published the results online at the website, www.educationboard.org.bd, for the first time ever in an arrangement with the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).

Many curious guardians tried to log on to the site but were denied access to the site server.

"The server could not be accessed due to high numbers of hits simultaneously," Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Shaheda Obaed told The Daily Star on telephone.

"The domain provider downed the server after more than six lakh people logged on to the site at a time," she said. "They have been taken aback by the huge number of hits," she added.

"We expect to put the site back in place shortly and the system engineers are working to upload it," she added.

People who were able to access the site told The Daily Star it was 'impressive'.

"You can have results in detail including name of the examinee, educational institution, department and grade point average (GPA) all by just typing the roll number," said one guardian.
