Nitol-Tata National Football League
Two hattricks mark Day 2

Two separate hattricks were the highlights of the fourth Nitol-Tata National Football League (NFL) qualifying rounds yesterday as Ali Nagar Janakallan Sangha of Nababganj and Mohammedan Sporting Club of Chuadanga enjoyed goal feasts.

Four-goal Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal struck in each half to give Ali Nagar a massive 7-2 victory against Nababerhat Adarsha Club of Lalmonirhat at the Natore Stadium.

However, it was Paiyel Uddin who opened the floodgates after just fifth minutes and he added another in the 47th minute.

Minhajul Islam was the other scorer for the winners.

Khurshid Alam and Abdur Rahim Khan netted two consolation goals after the breather for Nababerhat.

They now take on Noagaon Prabaha Sangha on Tuesday to confirm their place in the group semifinals.

At Jehnaidah, Chudanga Mohammedan mauled Jhangkar Krira Chakra of Gaibandha 5-0 thanks to Tariqul Islam's second-half display.

The local black and whites, who moved into the group semifinals, snatched the lead within seconds of the kick-off when Bipul Hasan scored.

Chanchal Uddin made it 2-0 in the 37th minute.

Cox's Bazar Brothers Union Club eliminated Sabujbagh Krira Chakra of Madaripur 2-0 to romp into the group semifinals at Chandpur.

At Bagerhat, Khulna Mohamme-dan Sporting Club scored a hard-fought solitary goal victory against Narail Abahani Krira Chakra to confirm their place in the group semifinal.

Kamal netted the all-important goal eight minutes before the long whistle.

But the most exciting match was at Narasingdhi when Surjo Tarun Club of Tangail edged past Dr Abul Hossain Mahabiddhyalaya of Rajbari 4-3 in the tiebreaker.

There were no goals in regulation time.
