Balu's killers will be punished
Bhuiyan tells JS

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan yesterday said the killers of Humayun Kabir Balu, editor of Khulna-based daily Janmabhumi, would be arrested and punished.

Responding to a point of order raised by Awami League (AL) lawmaker Talukder Abdul Khaleque at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS), he said, "Whoever responsible for the tragic incident would be brought to book and punished."

Bhuiyan told the House that Khulna police were hunting for the Culprits.

Khaleque informed the House of Balu's death in a bomb explosion in Khulna soon after the JS resumed in the afternoon.

"Khulna has become a valley of death. The government is solely responsible for the law and order downslide," he said adding that Manik Chandra Saha, another senior journalist, was killed in Khulna last January.
