Food official suspended in Khulna

A food official was suspended recently on charge of selling four metric tons of rice of a government food godown in black market in connivance with security guards. The suspended official is MA Khaleque Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Phultala upazila government food godown. The shortage of rice was detected following a surprise visit by the Food directorate DG Fazlur Rahman to the food godown on June 15. The godown was sealed off by order of the DG and an investigation committee was formed with food inspector Monoj Kumar as head of the body. The probe committee submitted its report to the DC of Food, Khunla, SM Mohsin on June 28 accusing Khaleque Khan and three security guards.
