Tigers' trial by India today

Bangladesh will make three changes in the team when they take on India in the opening Super League match of the Eighth Asia Cup at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground here today.Defending champions Pakistan are pitted against hosts Sri Lanka in the other match, a day-night contest at the Premadasa Stadium. Bangladesh Television and ESPN will provide live coverage of Bangladesh's match, starting at 10:00am. Star Sports will beam the other game from 2:30pm. Injured opener Javed Omar will be replaced by Manzarul Islam while out-of-form all-rounder Mushfiqur Rahman makes way for left-hander Faisal Hossain. It will be Faisal's second ODI after his debut against West Indies in the Caribbean last month. The Tigers' management however surprised many by resting pace spearhead Tapash Baisya and deciding to give Tareq Aziz the new ball along with left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak. "Don't get surprised if we do something different tomorrow. Tareq will open the attack and I won't hesitate to give Razzak a chance to bowl at the other end inside the first ten overs," said Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar on his first-choice bowlers. Razzak was on Sunday reported by match referee Roshan Mahanama for a suspect action against Pakistan. But Bashar was unperturbed by the controversy surrounding the 22-year-old. "I've told him to go on with his normal style of bowling. If he changes his action now, he will never know what was wrong." "Our plan remains the same. We can't go for runs early on these wickets. So we will try to keep wickets intact and slog later," said the Bangladesh captain adding that Javed's loss was a big blow for the team. "These things can happen. He was in form but now we'll have to do without him." Javed scored back-to-back half-centuries before damaging a hamstring against Pakistan on Saturday. However, neither Bashar nor coach Dav Whatmore wanted to explain why Tapash needed a break ahead of such an important match. "We are at a stage where we are able to have a look at the other boys. Playing against India is a good chance to give others a go," said the Sri Lankan-born Australian coach. The inclusion of left-handed Manzarul not only means the team will have four orthodox left-arm spinners, there will also be a left-right combination at the top of the innings. India on the other hand will be missing their fast bowler Zaheer Khan due to injury but Whatmore thinks his absence will not make much difference in the end. "They (India) have been winning matches without him. They are a hard to team to beat but they have lost to Sri Lanka. Still, they are very strong on these types of surfaces," he added. BANGLADESH: Mohammad Ashraful, Manzarul Islam, Habibul Bashar, Rajin Saleh, Alok Kapali, Faisal Hossain, Khaled Mashud, Mohammad Rafique, Khaled Mahmud, Abdur Razzak and Tareq Aziz.
