Nat'l age-group swimming


Mahfuza Akhter of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) created a new national record in the 100-metre breaststroke event of the 21st national age-group swimming championships on the opening day of the competition in Bogra yesterday.

Mahfuza clocked 1min 23.98 sec to shatter Rajbari's Dolly Akhter's previous best of 1min 26.38 sec in the ladies' 18-20 age category. There was another new national record in the boys' (15-17 age group) 100-metre freestyle.

59 teams are competing in 100 events at the three-day meet that ends on July 22.
